For the past few years, the automotive industry has felt like a roller coaster. We know that finding the exact RAM 1500, 2500, or 3500 you want on a local lot hasn't always been easy. Matt At Redwater Dodge believes you shouldn't have to settle for "close enough."
The most common question we get today is: "Can I actually custom order a truck directly from the manufacturer?"
The answer is a resounding YES. While the last 4 to 5 years presented unique supply chain challenges, the manufacturer's production lines are rolling, and the "Sold Order" pathway is now one of the smartest ways to buy a vehicle.

Many consumers assume that a custom order is more expensive. In reality, it can be a strategic way to save a buck or two. When you buy off the lot, you are paying for every bell and whistle already installed on that unit. When you custom order, you have total control:
Pick Your Essentials: If you need the towing capacity of a Max Tow Package but don't care for a sunroof, you can skip the luxury add-ons and keep your MSRP lower.
Performance Specs: Choose your axle ratio, engine type (HEMI® vs. Cummins®), and bed length without compromise.
The "Built for You" Pride: One of the coolest aspects of the process is the factory documentation. When your truck arrives, your name is often printed directly on the window sticker (the Monroney label) from the factory. It’s not just a truck; it’s your truck from the moment it hits the assembly line.
The key to a successful custom order is patience. Because your truck is being built from the chassis up to your specific requirements, it won't be ready overnight. Currently, we are seeing an average lead time of 8 to 12 weeks. During this window, our team provides updates as your vehicle moves through the various stages of production, from "Scheduled" to "In Paint" and finally to "Shipping."
Q1: How much is the deposit for a custom order?
A1: Typically, a refundable or non-refundable deposit (depending on the specific build and regulations) is required to secure your build slot. Contact our finance department for specific details.
Q2: Will I still qualify for incentives and rebates?
A2: Yes. In most cases, you can choose the incentives available at the time of the order OR the incentives available at the time of delivery, whichever is better for you.
Q3: Is the Rig Ready package available on custom orders?
A3: Yes! We can coordinate the installation of lift kits, tires, and custom offsets so that your truck is Rig Ready the moment you come to pick it up.
Q4: Can I trade in my current vehicle if I am custom ordering?
A4: Absolutely. We can appraise your trade-in today to give you an idea of value, or re-evaluate it once your new truck arrives in 8–12 weeks.
Q5: Can I trade in my current vehicle if I am custom ordering?
A5: Yes. While we specialize in Rams, the custom order process is available for the entire Stellantis family, including Jeep Wranglers, Dodge Durangos, Grand Caravans, Cherokees, Grand Cherokees, and Wagoneers.
